The weather has finally cooled off a bit – I didn’t even get in the pool yesterday! The wind has picked up a bit as well, signalling the end of the optimal fishing weather for a while. Glenn took the boat out for a few hours yesterday and the day before. Monday was productive, with a snapper and half a mackerel (shared it with a shark) coming home, but no luck yesterday. He went out with another guy, Ben, who was pretty thrilled to get out in the boat and it always makes me feel better to know there’s someone else with him when he’s exploring new waters.
Ben and his partner Kellie have two little boys aged 4 and 20 months, so the kids have been playing together for the past few days. They live in the Hunter Valley but have been visiting Kellie’s family at their potato farm just east of Busselton. They’re really lovely people and kids, friendly and down to earth and Kellie and I are interested in a lot of the same things. We’re not sure if we’re going to get to NSW next year, but meeting people like this really makes me want to go over that way, just so we can catch up with them again!
