Tuesday 3 December 2013 - Kalbarri WA
We’ve been plodding along quite nicely these past few days. Glenn goes and turns the sprinklers on in the morning and then goes for a little stroll every once in a while to move them. We do about half an hour of raking and then it’s usually time to hit the pool and cool off. Yesterday afternoon Yasmin and I went for a drive to look at some of the gift shops (it’s quite a tourist-focused town) and Glenn and Sienna had a lovely relaxing snooze. Today, both girls are so tired they went straight to sleep after lunch.
Poor Sienna got stung by a bee today. Mind you, it was on her finger - because she touched it (several times) after being told not to. Karma. The wind has really picked up over these last couple of days, but it’s sunny and warm during the day so it’s not too bothersome. The evenings get cool – I find it quite weird that I’m wearing a jumper and trackies in early December! The pool is quite cool too – not so much that you don’t get in, but none of us north Queenslanders stay in for very long!
Today we moved campsites so that we’re closer to the playground/pool/jumping pillow (directly over the road) so that we can let the girls play without us being there all the time. It’s a nicer spot too, bigger – with room for the boat and car – as well as a little more protected, closer to the ladies loos and the camp kitchen/bbq area as well. There’s a TV room here too, but the building is being re-paved at the moment so it’s out of bounds for the meantime. Probably a good thing with Yasmin being such a square-eyes.
Apparently work here is pretty slow to get done. Management were telling us the pavers should have knocked the job over in a couple of days, but apparently they’re a little too ‘relaxed’ after their lunchtime ‘smoko’ to be particularly industrious. And if the surf or the fishing is good, then nothing in the town gets done. They didn’t even turn up yesterday, but funnily enough now that the wind is blowing hard, they’re here!
After we moved camps, Glenn took the boat off and it’s just about set to hit the water. Hopefully the river is still fairly accessible when it’s windy, because that seems to be the default weather in WA (I probably mentioned it before, but we’ve been told it stands for Windy Always). At least we’re all set to take advantage of the good weather if we get some. The bikes have been good too, we’ve been for a few rides although it’s hard work in the wind!
