Monday 16 December 2013 - Kalbarri
Yesterday and today are still warm, but the maximums are hanging around the mid-thirties so it’s not as bad as it has been. The pool is not so cold anymore, which is good, but if it gets hotter it’ll be feral when the school holidays start next weekend. Yesterday we didn’t do very much at all, just caught up on a bit of raking and sprinkling. In the afternoon, we went out in the boat for a few hours down the Murchison River. It’s pretty shallow so you need a high tide to get in there and there’s only one tide a day here, so we’ve been pretty limited in being able to access it at a time that’s not too hot! After a little bit of exploring, pelican watching and spotting euros and goats along the banks, we dropped anchor just near the boat ramp and got the girls onto a few (small) whiting. Yasmin caught three, which she was most chuffed about. Poor Sienna kept winding and winding but every time her bait was gone and there was no fish on the hook! She was enthusiastic though, which is what it’s all about.
