Yasmin and I finally made it home yesterday afternoon. She’s on the mend, going to the toilet regularly and in great spirits (currently playing with some other kids from the caravan park – pretty much her favourite thing to do in the whole world!), although I’m a little fragile after the whole experience.
Fortunately the hospital was an excellent one, with great kids’ facilities (a toyroom to die for, plus an outdoor area that would give the PCYC a run for its money!) and of course, ABC 4 Kids on tap! Yasmin was quite content there, although she’s just as pleased to be ‘home’ again. I coped by drinking a lot of tea, but what I found really hard was living in such an artificial environment – the fluoro lights and air conditioning really got to me after a while, plus there was nowhere I could get any direct sunlight as even the outdoor area had a sun shade over it and it was a super-dooper UV filtering one.
Glenn had the day off yesterday because he couldn’t just leave Sienna with me at the hospital, plus we didn’t know when Yasmin and I would be discharged because we had to wait for the paediatrician (it wasn’t until 3pm!). The afternoon was pretty shattering – both girls were playing up, overstimulated and overtired, plus Glenn and I both felt like we’d been hit by a bus. Fortunately they went to bed fairly happily at a reasonable hour and both of them slept all night long.
Today I’m feeling much better, although I have a sense of being ‘ripped-off’ from our weekend family time, but at least I’m outdoors again!
